An interesting blend of Vietnam from north to south including an o/n sleeper train. The success and enjoyment of these trips is usually down to the blend of fellow travellers and team leader and this one was no different. The weather,early season, was mixed with a little more rain and cloud than hoped for but did not detract from the enjoyment but a little more sunshine would have enhanced the countryside. A read of the brochure and trip notes will give a very accurate picture of the breadth and variety of the trip. The daily riding distances are mainly governed by the fitness of the participants and their ability to cover the miles in a reasonable time and for the first time in my experience of 7 trips we were delayed by some participants who frankly were not cycling fit and I wonder if they had read and understood the pre - trip advice!
I am a little late in posting a review. We returned from this trip in early March, right when everything started to close down due to Covid-19. I can tell you that the memories of this trip have kept me going while sheltering in place. If you are thinking this might be the trip for you, please know that it is very fast paced with moving from place to place almost every night was quite challenging. The cycling itself was challenging based on ones fitness level. My husband completed every kilometer, while I did about three-quarters of the cycling. A lot of it depends on the heat, but for a female in my early 50s, I found it very doable. We had the most fabulous guide and crew. I cannot say enough of about our guide Son - he was absolutely amazing - taking care of all the details while we enjoyed ourselves. There are plenty of water/snack stops with fresh fruit and amazing snacks (ginger/nuts/cookies). They take very good care of you
Hemos realizado un par de viajes en bicicleta antes y este fue probablemente el mejor.. Tri, nuestro guía fue excepcional y todos nuestros compañeros ciclistas fueron un gran grupo de personas.. Tenemos un verdadero sabor de la vida en Vietnam.. Mucha comida interesante. Las comidas eran buenas y abundantes.. Thought we would lose weight but didn't! Buenos hoteles. Muchos puntos destacados, pero un par más o menos para señalar.,Isla Ballena y Hoi An, Los 30 km de emocionante descenso y ciclismo en el tráfico del centro de la ciudad...... muy divertido pero te deja el corazón acelerado. Está bastante lleno lo que te deja con ganas de pasar más tiempo en algunos de los lugares visitados.. El patrón habitual es llegar a 5 - 6 p.m, salir en 7.15 mañana siguiente. Sin embargo, encontramos tiempo para nadar en las piscinas del hotel.. El tren nocturno fue muy divertido... todo parte de la aventura.. Para cubrir todo el país hay algunos tiempos bastante largos en el autobús, pero el autobús era cómodo pero era una gran oportunidad para hablar con tus compañeros de viaje.. Esto también te da tiempo para ver más del país y observar a la gente.. Nos sorprendió cuánto se podía apilar en un scooter.!Las bicicletas eran ideales para las condiciones de la carretera, además de estar limpias y muy bien mantenidas.. En las frecuentes paradas para avituallarse y descansar había mucho zumo., agua, fruta, nueces y galletas. El conductor y el mecánico de bicicletas fueron muy amables y muy competentes.. Gran organización, Cosas sucedieron cuando Tri dijo que lo harían.

Lifelong memories
We were part of a group of 17 who quickly formed a close bond created entirely by the enthusiasm and generosity of our leader. Nothing was too much trouble Long went out of his way every day to make sure we experienced in full life in Vietnam. The trip ran like clockwork, without us feeling we were being rushed at any stage. He made it fun even when we cycled 100 k in a day taking in a very high mountain pass.
