Welcome to Marseille, my city, my home, and a place I know like the back of my hand. This tour isn’t about ticking off the usual spots—it’s about experiencing Marseille as locals do. We’ll navigate through the vibrant alleys of Le Panier, the city’s oldest district, where each street tells a story of traders, artists, and revolutionaries. Poi, we’ll wind our way down to the Vieux-Port, where the smell of fresh seafood and saltwater fills the air. You’ll hear tales of fishermen, see stunning coastal views, and discover why Marseille’s history is as diverse as its people. By the end, you’ll feel the pulse of this ancient port city, alive with tradition and change.
We’ll start in the vibrant Le Panier neighborhood, exploring its narrow, winding streets and learning about Marseille’s beginnings. The area is full of street art, quaint cafes, and quirky shops that give you a taste of authentic Marseille.
A short walk up to the basilica offers one of the best views in the city. From here, you’ll see Marseille sprawling below you, the Mediterranean stretching to the horizon, and the Frioul Islands in the distance. I’ll share the stories of this iconic lookout point.
We’ll end the tour at the bustling Vieux-Port, where fishermen still bring in their catch each morning. You’ll taste bouillabaisse, a classic Marseillais fish stew, and hear about the ancient trade routes that made Marseille the melting pot it is today.
SÌ, it’s suitable for all ages, though there are a few short climbs in Le Panier and up to the basilica.
Absolutely! You’ll want to capture the views from Notre-Dame de la Garde and the lively scenes at the Vieux-Port.
Great experience
